"Let’s Taco ‘Bout Food Waste: A Greenspeak Journey Toward Sustainability"

On January 24, 2025, I had the incredible honor of being a speaker for the Greenspeak S4 Sustainability Seminar, aptly titled "Let’s Taco ‘Bout Food Waste: Harnessing Circularity through Conscious Consumption." Held virtually via MS Teams, the event brought together passionate individuals dedicated to making a difference for the planet.
From the moment I stepped (virtually) into the session, I could feel the energy of the Arcadians, their eagerness to learn, and their commitment to change. My goal was simple: to highlight how food waste isn’t just an environmental issue—it’s a call to action for every individual.
I shared stories and insights about how food waste impacts our planet, but more importantly, I focused on solutions. These weren’t complex or overwhelming ideas; they were practical, everyday actions we can all take, like mindful meal planning, composting, and choosing imperfect produce.
The highlight of the session was seeing the audience light up with enthusiasm. As I spoke about the power of small, intentional actions to combat food waste, I noticed their engagement deepen. It wasn’t just about the statistics; it was about realizing their personal ability to contribute to a larger cause.
Hearing the feedback afterward was both humbling and inspiring. To know that my talk resonated, moved people, and made them want to get involved in sustainability means the world to me. My mission has always been to empower individuals to see the impact of their choices, not just on the planet, but on their communities and their future.
