June 24, 2024 - Stepping into the Spotlight: My Exam Day at The Magician's Foundation

Today was a pivotal day in my magic journey—I faced the daunting challenge of the Magician's Foundation exam. This experience felt eerily similar to the academic tests of my school days, filled with the same blend of anticipation and nerves. Stepping into the examination venue, I realized that no amount of preparation can wholly ready you for the moment you perform; you truly become prepared only when you're there, in the spotlight.

Despite the nerves, I am reminded of the necessity of being as prepared as possible, which in the world of magic, means gaining more experience through performance. Today, I performed for a panel of seasoned magicians—Rannie Raymundo, Alakim, Jon Achaval, and Ruther—which was both exhilarating and incredibly humbling.

The feedback I received was invaluable. It highlighted several areas I need to work on: my technical skills, timing, acting, rhythm, and the ability to speak more relaxedly, without rushing. These elements are crucial for any magician, and mastering them is what separates the good from the great.

Joining The Magician's Foundation is more than just about skill enhancement. It represents a pathway to personal and professional growth, an opportunity to immerse myself in an environment that challenges and builds its members. I am immensely grateful for this experience and the clarity it brought. It reinforced my desire to perform more frequently, in more places, to build my value not just as a magician, but as an artist and a person.

Reflecting on today, I am motivated to push my limits further, eager to evolve and enrich my art. Here’s to more performances, more growth, and more magic!
