Mac Florendo is a magician, sustainability advocate, and multimedia storyteller who seamlessly blends entertainment with purpose. As Mr. Magic of the Philippines, he captivates audiences with mind-blowing illusions, immersive storytelling, and stagecraft, creating experiences that leave lasting inspiration. Beyond the stage, Mac is the founder of Food Rescue Philippines (formerly Food Rescue ASEAN) and GAMIT Rescue, two initiatives dedicated to sustainability and social impact. Food Rescue Philippines is a not-for-profit initiative that collects unsold but perfectly edible food from various food businesses and establishments. These rescued foods are then redistributed to churches, shelters, and low-income families through bike deliveries and volunteer transportation. Mac drew inspiration from Boulder Food Rescue when he attended the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) in 2015. The use of bicycles for food rescue—helping people while reducing carbon footprint—was the driving force behind bringing the concept to the Philippines. Food Rescue Philippines gained recognition through the YSEALI Seeds for the Future grant (2015) by the U.S. Mission to ASEAN and was honored as one of the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) in 2017, receiving the "Better World" Award from San Miguel Corporation. Mac was also named a Youth Champion for The 2030 Project: SDG2 Zero Hunger for his efforts in fighting food insecurity. On January 14, 2025, Mac launched GAMIT Rescue (Give Anything Material that Inspires and Transforms), a program dedicated to rescuing and redistributing unused but valuable items such as educational materials, electronic gadgets, musical instruments, and mobility aids. GAMIT Rescue promotes a culture of caring, sharing, and sustainability, ensuring that useful items reach those who need them most instead of ending up in landfills. In 2023, Mac joined Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Philippines as a Food Rescue Supervisor, where he leads food rescue and distribution efforts. Through SOS, he has helped serve millions of meals to communities in need, ensuring that surplus food reaches those who need it most. Mac holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication and has an extensive background in media. He has worked in TV commercials and as a producer/director for advocacy-based shows on ANC and Metro Channel. As a seasoned voice artist, he has lent his voice to hundreds of projects, including animations, movies, and commercials. He is recognized as one of the Top 20 Certified Voice Artists of the Certified Voice Artists Philippines, further cementing his expertise in voice artistry. A sought-after speaker, Mac shares compelling insights on creativity, resilience, and social responsibility, urging audiences to see the magic in everyday opportunities—whether through performance, sustainability, or media. His journey proves that magic isn’t just about illusions; it’s about transforming lives, one act at a time.
